With Age Comes Timeless Beauty

I was flipping through a U.S. Weekly magazine the other day and came across a spread with the Sex and the City vixens at the premier in L.A.  Sarah Jessica Parker was dressed in a gorgeous lime green gown (designer) and her hair was thick, blond and wavy – shoulder length. Her skin was glowing like an oyster shell and she looked…youthful. As I continued flipping pages, I came across another S.J.P picture, except it was beside another snapshot of her face…in the 80’s.  In her youth.

In my opinion, she looked not-so-great. Her hair was frizzy and unhealthy, her skin was pale and tired, and she had bags under her eyes. Must have been all of that ’20 something’ party banter. My point is, she looked better as she aged. Some do not believe me that woman actually look better with age, but I will stand by my point.  For the most part, a woman grows into herself as she ages, and takes better care of herself. She wises up, drinks more water instead of vodka, Crocs instead of pumps. I understand styles and trends change making new styles look fresh and new. But it is more than the style that transforms an older woman.

You grow up and learn how to take care of yourself. And I think a huge part of the ageless transformation is you get to know and love who you are. Pardon me for sounding sappy, maybe it is just the rainy day.  I see pictures of my mother when she was in her thirties, and granted she had a few less wrinkles, I do think she looks better now. I don’t know if all of those Olay creams she uses really do work, or if a timeless beauty truly comes with age. Whatever it is, it’s exciting. And all woman should embrace it.

I agree completely, And its not just women, men too get better with age.
I think the reason why is that as you get older, you become more comfortable in your own skin, you can better define your own style and you’ve had more experience at editing what works from what doesn’t, so that the final image is so much better.

Amen! I completely agree. Style is an evolution that just gets better with time. I have every plan to take care of myself and not turn into an old dowdy hag.
